Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

These 1930 French Chateau wall lights take the form of painted metal floral bouquets, crafted from wrought iron and painted metal in white and green. Each sconce displays hand-painted green leaves, flower head bulb holders, and a tied stem base. The visible details include slender stems bound with twine near the bottom, textured white daisy-like petals with yellow centres, and trumpet-shaped candle holders emerging from green calyxes at the top of each branch. The visible elements include a dark green velvet sofa supporting the items, white petals with yellow centres, and green painted metal leaves. Measuring 40 cm high, 39 cm wide, and 20 cm deep, each light fixture is sized to fit a narrow wall space in a hallway, bedroom, or living room. They hang flat against vertical surfaces to provide accent lighting while serving as decorative wall art in traditional interiors.

FAQs

French painted metal floral sconces are decorative wall-mounted lighting fixtures crafted primarily from hand-shaped wrought iron or sheet metal, painted to resemble natural botanical arrangements such as flowers, leaves, and stems.

These fixtures were constructed by cutting, forging, and welding individual metal leaves and petals onto a frame, which was then coated with base primer and hand-painted in layered polychrome finishes before receiving electrical candle tubes.

Authentic pieces exhibit layered paint with natural surface wear, evidence of hand-formed metal joints rather than modern uniform welds, and traditional European candle socket fittings or original patinated wiring tracks.

Position them in pairs to flank a central focal point, such as an entryway mirror, a mantelpiece, or above side tables, adding sculptural texture and an organic botanical motif to the wall.

Dust regularly using a dry, soft-bristled brush or low-powered vacuum attachment, avoiding liquid solvents or harsh abrasive cleaners that could strip original decorative paint layers.
