A Georgian opaque twist wine glass is a type of drinking vessel produced during the 18th and early 19th centuries, characterised by a stem containing white or coloured enamel threads twisted into intricate patterns.

These glasses were crafted from lead glass, with the stems formed by drawing out molten glass rods containing enclosed threads of opaque white or coloured glass in spiral or lattice configurations.

Authentic pieces often exhibit pontil marks on the base, minor surface wear consistent with age, slight irregularities in the glass distribution, and characteristic weight and ring associated with period lead metal.

Displaying the piece within a glass-fronted cabinet, on a dedicated shelf, or as a focal point on a sideboard allows its intricate historical details to complement contemporary spaces.

Antique glass should be washed gently by hand in lukewarm water using mild detergent, avoiding harsh abrasives, thermal shock, and placement in dishwashers.
