FAQs

Silver candlesticks have been used for centuries to illuminate homes, evolving in style from simple domestic items in the medieval period to ornate, neoclassical decorative arts during the Georgian and Victorian eras.

Authentic period candlesticks are typically crafted from solid sterling silver or feature a silver plate over copper, often weighted with a resin or wooden base to provide stability.

Authenticity is determined by examining hallmarks, maker marks, weight, and the natural patina and wear patterns consistent with age.

They can be used as focal points on dining tables, mantelpieces, or sideboards to introduce metallic contrast and historical depth into contemporary spaces.

Silver should be cleaned gently with a specialised microfibre cloth and non-abrasive polish only when necessary, avoiding harsh chemicals to preserve the protective patina.
