Antique Melas Prayer Rug

Description

This is a pretty Melas prayer rug from West Anatolia with an attractive colour palette dating from the early 20th Century. The rug has a simple and very pleasing design with a quite open coral field beneath a Mihrab enclosed within deep pale gold borders featuring stylised geometric motifs. The carpet is a good size for a prayer rug and measures 228 cms by 132 cms. It is in excellent condition with a neat even pile.

Rams Head Antiques is a family business based in Wolsingham in Weardale where we have had shop premises for 28 years. The shop is generally open every Saturday from 11 am till 3 pm.
