Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Yahyali rugs originate from the Kayseri region in Central Anatolia and are characterised by a prominent central stepped medallion, stylized floral motifs, and geometric borders. They typically utilise rich indigo blue, madder red, and gold colour palettes derived from traditional vegetable dyes.

Traditional Anatolian rugs are hand-knotted using hand-spun sheeps wool on a wool warp and weft foundation. Artisans employ the double-knot, or Symmetrical Turkish (Ghiordes) knot, which creates a durable structure designed for long-term wear.

Authentic period rugs display natural dye variation, known as abrash, across the wool pile. Examination of the underside reveals hand-bound edges, slightly irregular hand-knotted knot structures, and natural wool warps rather than uniform synthetic backings.

A geometric medallion rug acts as a visual anchor in neutral spaces, bridging contemporary and period elements. Placing the textile over hardwood floorboards or layering it on a natural jute base adds texture and colour contrast to living rooms, studies, or hallways.

Vacuum the rug regularly without using a rotating beater bar to avoid pulling the wool fibres. Clean spills immediately by blotting with a dry cloth, rotate the textile periodically to ensure even wear, and use a dedicated rug underlay for stability.
