This is a Georgian, Continental (Netherlands or North Germany) double series opaque twist ale glass dating from the middle of the 18th century, c1765. The glass is in excellent condition for its age. It shows age related wear and tear to both the rim of the bowl and to the rim of the foot commensurate with some 250 years of use. It has a rough pontil mark on the underside of the foot. The glass has an extended rounded funnel-shaped bowl measuring 5.5 cm (2.2 inches) in diameter at the rim. The bowl is plain and sits on a double series opaque twist stem consisting of nineteen white enamel ''cotton'' strands wound around a central twist of two white enamel cords. The stem ends in a conical foot which measures 8 cm (3.2 inches) in diameter. The glass is 20 cm (8 inches) in height.
