Victorian 9ct Gold Scottish Agate Gemstone Pendant Earrings

Although antique Scottish brooches are relatively common, earrings are much harder to track down and gold ones are quite a rare find!
 
These beautiful 19th century solid gold earrings are set with garnets, amethysts and citrine gemstones against a background of polished agates. The gems are foiled for extra sparkle with traditional enclosed gold backs.
 
Scottish jewellery was made popular by Queen Victoria from the mid 1800s when she and Prince Albert frequently visited Scotland and her Scottish castle Balmoral. She loved all things Scottish and spent much time in the Highlands and Cairngorm mountains where the Scottish agate ''pebble'' stones were collected.
 
• Condition: The earrings are in excellent antique condition.
 
• Fixing: Ear wires, supplied with tiny silicone ''keepers'' to pop on the ends for security.
 
• Era: Victorian 1880-90.
 
• Size: 4cm drop from the top of the ear wire. The round sections measure 1.8cm across and the central citrine is 7mm diameter.
