Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Popularised during the nineteenth century, these implements were used to slit unopened mail and separate uncut pages in freshly bound books and periodicals.

Makers frequently combined silver handles, often hallmarked, with blades crafted from natural materials such as tortoiseshell, bone, mother-of-pearl, or ivory.

Authentic pieces usually feature official British hallmarks denoting the assay office, silver purity mark, date letter, and makers mark struck into the metal handle.

Displaying the piece alongside leather-bound books, stationery trays, or leather blotters on an office desk or library table adds historical character.

Polish the silver handle gently with a soft microfibre cloth, while keeping the tortoiseshell blade away from direct heat, sunlight, and excess moisture to prevent warping.
