A rummer is a heavy, short-stemmed drinking glass popular in Britain during the late 18th and 19th centuries, primarily used for consuming ale, wine, punch, or rum.

These vessels were typically hand-blown using lead crystal or soda glass, often featuring wheel-cut fluting, panel cutting, or engraved detailing near the base of the bowl.

Authentic pieces exhibit characteristics such as a rough pontil mark on the underside of the foot, subtle air bubbles within the glass matrix, and hand-polished facets showing natural wear.

They can be displayed within glass-fronted cabinets as part of a historical collection or utilised on a dining table for serving vintage beverages during dinner parties.

Antique glass should always be hand-washed in lukewarm water using mild detergent and dried immediately with a lint-free cloth to prevent water spots and protect the fragile rim.
