Technical Description

A 19th century opaline glass serving bottle or decanter. White in colour, it has its original stopper the body showing cherubs with fruits and vines. Polished pontil. Sighed on the base.

Date & Origin

England, c1850. Period of Victoria.

Condition

Excellent, age-related wear as shown. Clean and clear, no chips cracks or restoration.

Dimensions

Height: 34.5cm (includes stopper), Diameter: 7.5cm.

Historical Context

Hand-blown around the time Nathaniel Hawthorne's The Scarlet Letter was published on the 16th of March 1850.
