The Edwardian era, spanning the reign of King Edward VII from 1901 to 1910, was characterised by a revival of neoclassical styles, lighter forms, and intricate ornamentation influenced by French 18th-century design.

These pieces typically consist of a thin sheet of sterling silver shaped via stamping or repousse, mounted over a wooden or composition core, and backed with velvet, silk, or watered fabric supported by an easel stand.

Authenticity is verified by locating British hallmark stamps, which typically include a lion passant for sterling silver, a town mark, and a date letter corresponding to the assay office records of that specific year.

Place the piece on a polished wood mantelpiece, a leather-topped desk, or a bookshelf to introduce reflective metallic texture, contrasting the ornate historical craftsmanship against minimalist modern surroundings.

Clean the silver gently using a high-quality micro-fibre cloth and specialised silver polish, avoiding abrasive pastes and ensuring moisture does not seep behind the frame or damage the original backing material.
