Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Produced during the reign of King George IV between 1820 and 1830, these pieces represent a stylistic transition between classic Regency proportions and early Victorian detailing, featuring dark hardwoods like rosewood, carved aprons, and padded upholstery.

Framing relied on dense hardwoods such as rosewood or mahogany with mortise and tenon joinery. Surface decoration included hand-carved floral aprons and cabriole legs, topped with webbed framing and natural horsehair stuffing.

Authentic pieces feature rich grain figures characteristic of rosewood, hand-carved floral and foliate motifs, scroll feet, and signs of age-appropriate oxidisation or wear on the interior wooden framework.

An upholstered ottoman functions well positioned at the foot of a bed, beneath a low window sill, or as a central low table in a living room when paired with a decorative wooden tray.

Dust the timber regularly with a dry cloth and apply a natural beeswax sparingly along the grain. Clean the velvet upholstery using a soft brush or vacuum with a dedicated textile attachment.
