Early 20th Century Large Steel Porch Light

Description

This large hall lantern has decorative C scrolls to the top with large leaves. I think this piece would've been gas originally looking at the arms which support the bulb holders. This piece comes with three large bayonet bulb holders B 22. The width of the hexagon without the C scrolls and decorative parts is 30cm

You can arrange your own transport or collect in person. We ship worldwide and have extensive experience of wrapping carefully so you can shop with confidence! We often deliver for free to mainland UK - please contact us to discuss.

You can also view items at our restoration workshop by appointment only.

Our lighting has all been lovingly restored, tested and earthed but will need to be installed by a qualified electrician. All of our furniture has been through our antique restoration workshop.

During the early 20th century, porch and hall lanterns were heavily influenced by the Gothic Revival and Arts & Crafts movements. Craftspeople utilised traditional blacksmithing techniques to create decorative, functional exterior fixtures for period homes.

These fixtures were constructed using wrought steel or iron frames, clear flat glass panes, and hand-riveted structural supports to protect the interior lighting elements from external weather conditions.
