Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A salver is a flat tray, historically made of precious metal such as sterling silver, traditionally used to present visiting cards, letters, or refreshments in formal households. During the George IV period, salvers frequently featured elaborate cast rims and engraved armorial crests.

George IV sterling silver salvers were crafted from solid silver, featuring raised or cast borders decorated with floral, scroll, or foliate motifs. The flat central surface was often hand-engraved with armorial coats of arms, supported by small cast feet on the underside.

Authentic British sterling silver bears a complete set of official hallmarks, including the lion passant for purity, the leopards head for the London assay office, and the date letter corresponding to 1827. Hand-engraved heraldry and minor surface age wear further indicate period authenticity.

Antique silver salvers can be arranged on a dining room sideboard or hallway console table to hold glassware, decanters, or small display items. Their reflective metallic surfaces create depth when styled against dark timber or painted walls.

Maintain sterling silver salvers by polishing periodically with a specialised, non-abrasive silver cleaner and a soft cotton cloth to remove oxidisation. Avoid machine washing and store in climate-controlled environments wrapped in anti-tarnish fabric.
