Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

An Early Georgian bureau cabinet typically features a fall-front writing slant above a chest of drawers, surmounted by a double-door cupboard, often decorated with swan-neck pediments, crossbanding, or marquetry inlays popular in early 18th-century England.

Furniture of this era featured figure-rich walnut veneers applied over oak or pine carcases, constructed using hand-cut dovetail joints, brass drop handles, and decorative crossbanding or star inlay motifs.

Authentic period examples display hand-sawn timber marks, hand-cut dovetails in drawer construction, natural uneven shrinkage along drawer bottoms, and period-appropriate brass fittings with original iron locks.

Place the cabinet as a focal architectural piece in a library, hallway, or living room, pairing it with warm lighting and subtle ceramics to complement the deep tones of the timber.

Maintain walnut veneers by dusting regularly with a soft dry cloth, applying a high-grade beeswax polish once or twice annually, and keeping the piece away from direct sunlight and radiators to prevent drying and cracking.
