Antique Georgian Engraved Composite Wine Glass C1750

Technical Description
 
An exceptional 18th-century composite stem wine glass dating to around 1750.
 
It has a drawn trumpet bowl engraved with fruiting vine above a long plain stem section and a knopped multi spiral air twist, the air starting in the base of the knop. Conical foot.

England, c1750.
 
Condition
 
Excellent, age-related wear as shown. No chips cracks or restoration

Historical Context
 
Hand-blown around the time of The French and Indian War from 1754 to 1763. Fought between the colonies of British America and those of New France.

A composite stem is made up from two or more recognised stem forms, e.g. plain stem & opaque twist stem, opaque twist stem & air twist stem or knops, air twist stem or knops & plain stem etc. This example is particularly fine example.
