Technical Description

An excellent antique Jacobite Sympathy Jelly glass dating to 1780. It has a flared round funnel bowl with engraved stylized rose, bud, lily of the valley and a Jay bird. Domed foot.

Date & Origin

England, c1780. Period of George III.

Condition

Excellent, no chips cracks or restoration

Dimensions

Height: 10.8 cm Rim diameter: 7cm Foot diameter: 5.8cm

Historical Relevance

In Feb 1782 James Chalmers was born in Arbroath Scotland, who went on to invent of the adhesive postal stamp.
