We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

FAQs

The Aesthetic Movement emerged in the late 19th century, promoting art for arts sake and turning away from heavy Victorian ornamentation in favour of cleaner lines, often influenced by Japanese design and traditional craftsmanship.

These pieces were predominantly crafted from solid hardwoods such as oak, walnut, and sometimes ebonised pearwood, often featuring incised carving, brass elements, and spindle work.

Authenticity is identified through traditional joinery methods like mortise and tenon, specific makers stamps or paper labels, characteristic incised geometric or floral motifs, and period-appropriate timber patination.

They can be integrated into contemporary hallways or living spaces as functional statement seating, paired with neutral walls to highlight the rich grain of the timber and complemented by minimalist textiles.

Preservation involves maintaining stable indoor humidity levels, avoiding direct sunlight to prevent timber fading, and occasionally applying high-quality beeswax to nourish the wood surface.
