Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This antique Northwest Persian runner rug originates from the period around 1870 and follows a traditional Persian style. Constructed from wool, the runner features a deep navy blue field covered in a repeating geometric shrub motif, framed by a pale cream patterned border and finished with fringed ends at the base. Visible details include a full pile with dense wool and vibrant natural dyes in shades of pink, pale blue and green throughout the field. Measuring 502 cm high, 75 cm wide and 1 cm deep, this narrow runner is substantial and durable enough to withstand heavy footfall. Placed in a hallway, corridor, or grand entrance passage within an English country house interior, it provides a warm floor covering and grounds high-traffic transit areas with traditional elegance.

FAQs

Northwest Persian rugs originate from weaving regions such as Heriz, Bakshaish, and Sennah, characterised by geometric stylized motifs, durable wool knotting, and rich natural dyes.

Traditional Persian runners are hand-knotted using hand-spun sheep wool pile woven onto a cotton or wool warp and weft foundation, dyed using organic vegetable and plant extracts.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-tied knots visible on the reverse, subtle color variations known as abrash, slight dimensional asymmetry, and natural wear consistent with hand-weaving techniques.

Long narrow runners are placed in entrance hallways, gallery corridors, or alongside staircases to anchor linear architectural spaces and protect high-traffic flooring.

Vacuum regularly using suction only without a rotating beater bar, place a quality rug pad underneath to prevent slipping and friction wear, and employ specialist professional cleaning when required.
