Antique Kurdish Runner 440x96 Cm

A very fine antique Kurdish runner. Woven in North west Persia around the middle of the 19th century, this tightly knotted, all wool weaving shows large scale Harshang Palmettes woven in vivid natural colours on navy ground. The abundance of yellow is a beautiful and unusual feature. Very good condition for age, mostly full pile, some top flight restoration to ends and sides. A Very clean and healthy item that should appeal to both decorators and collectors. Circa 1850
