This 1920s sporting trophy incorporates a match-played brown leather cricket ball held within an engraved, hallmarked silver frame on a silver stand. The object features a silver band around the center, twin support pillars shaped like cricket stumps, and visible stitching detail on the leather surface. Hallmarks are visible on the base and band. The piece measures 8.5 cm wide, 7 cm deep, and 11.5 cm high, with a total weight of 240 g. Suitable for placement on an office desk, the trophy is an interesting addition to a collection of cricket memorabilia. It fits well in a gentleman's library or study as a display item commemorating a historical sporting achievement.

Silver-mounted cricket balls emerged during the late Victorian and Edwardian eras as custom presentation awards to mark significant sporting achievements, such as taking a hat-trick or scoring a century. The match-played leather ball was typically encased in hallmarked sterling silver mounts detailing the match date, venue, and player achievements.

Trophies from the 1920s frequently combined hallmarked sterling silver or electroplated nickel silver with original game elements such as stitched leather balls, carved oak bases, or polished mahogany plinths.

Authentic pieces display official silver hallmarks indicating the assay office, maker mark, and date letter, along with hand-engraved period typography rather than modern machine engraving.

Antique sporting items serve as focal points on dark wood bookshelves, executive desks, or mantelpieces, pairing well with leather furniture, framed architectural prints, and vintage brass accents.

Keep the item in a temperature-controlled environment away from direct sunlight to prevent the leather from cracking. Clean the silver components using a soft cotton cloth and silver polish, taking care to avoid harsh chemicals on the natural leather surface.
