Victorian sterling silver tableware from the late 19th century frequently features intricate repousse metalwork, elaborate pierced lattice patterns, and decorative motifs derived from classical imagery, floral arrangements, and cherubs.

Pierced silver dishes were crafted from sterling silver using hand-piercing techniques with fine saws, alongside stamping, embossing, and chasing to create raised central figures and scrolled border detail.

Authentic British sterling silver displays a complete set of hallmarks, including the lion passant for silver purity, a specific date letter, a makers mark, and an assay office town mark.

A small decorative silver dish can be positioned on a dressing table as a holder for jewellery, styled on a console table as a catch-all tray, or integrated into a curated display on a shelf.

Sterling silver should be washed gently in warm water with mild soap, dried thoroughly, and polished periodically using a soft silver polishing cloth to maintain lustre without removing detailed work.
