Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Victorian country nursery stool originates from the nineteenth century, constructed from elm and beech with a dark brown timber finish displaying visible grain and rustic wear. The seating comprises a circular top measuring 30 cm high, 28 cm wide, and 28 cm deep, positioned above three splayed tripod legs with decorative ring turning and cross stretchers. Additional details include a shaped edge to the seat and rounded feet. Practical placement includes positioning this piece beside a fireplace hearth or as a low occasional seat in a living room, bedroom, or hallway. The compact proportions allow for easy movement around the home while adding functional seating with an authentic antique aesthetic.

FAQs

Nursery and milking stools were utilitarian country pieces designed for durability and low-level seating in Victorian homes and agricultural settings.

These stools were typically hand-crafted from dense hardwoods such as oak, elm, or ash, featuring wedge-tenon joinery and turned splayed legs joined by stretchers.

Authentic period stools exhibit hand-turned leg profiles, uneven surface wear around the base, natural wood grain shrinkage, and hand-cut tenon joinery beneath the seat.

A small wooden stool functions well as an occasional side table beside an armchair, a plant stand in a hallway, or a decorative riser on a low console.

Preserve timber by regularly dusting with a soft cloth and applying beeswax polish to maintain patination, avoiding direct heat sources or high humidity.
