This Edwardian sterling silver quaich follows traditional Scottish form with a shallow circular bowl mounted on a plain foot and flanked by two flat projecting lug handles. The silver surface has a polished finish with light surface scratches, small dings, and minor wear visible from age and regular use. The interior base carries fine engraved decoration featuring the Gaelic phrase "SCUAB ASI" enclosed within concentric circles. Measuring 12 cm across the handles with a 7 cm bowl diameter and 2.8 cm height, the piece weighs 56.4 grams. In a contemporary home, this traditional vessel serves as an eye-catching decorative bowl on a sideboard top or display cabinet. It functions well as a small serving dish for dry items or as a collector's display piece reflecting Highland heritage. The classic metallic tones and clean lines suit traditional dining rooms, studies, or living spaces styled with Scottish vernacular or Highland hunting lodge themes.

A quaich is a traditional Scottish shallow drinking cup featuring two flattened handles known as lugs. Historically crafted from wood, brass, or silver, it was used to offer a welcoming drink of whisky or brandy to guests.

Antique quaichs were typically raised from solid sterling silver sheets or cast in sections before being hand-soldered. High-grade silver ensures durability, while hallmarking on the bowl or base confirms the metal purity and makers origin.

Authentic Edwardian silver quaichs feature official British hallmarks, including an assay office mark, fineness mark, date letter, and makers stamp. Examining construction details, such as hand-engraving and soldered lugs, helps verify period origin.

An antique silver quaich makes a refined decorative accent when displayed on a sideboard, mantelpiece, or bookshelf. It can serve as a trinket dish, a table centrepiece, or a curated addition to a bar cart.

Maintain sterling silver by wiping it regularly with a soft, dry cotton cloth to prevent dust accumulation. To remove tarnish, apply a specialised non-abrasive silver polish using light pressure, avoiding harsh chemical dips.
