Antique Pearl and Turquoise Rolled Gold Heart Padlock Bracelet

Description

This quality antique padlock bracelet, dating to circa 1900, features alternating bezel-set Pearl and Turquoise gemstones. It is complete with a heart padlock fastening modelled in Rolled Gold throughout.

Padlock bracelets became popular during the Victorian period. They were worn by women whose significant others were leaving for an extended period of time. The bracelet would be locked on to the woman’s wrist by the padlock charm, to which only her beloved would have the key- he would then open it upon his return.

This bracelet is a beautiful example of this style, which is in superb condition.
