These Edwardian wall lights present a French Chateau style, formed as a matched pair of semicircular bag sconces mounted against vertical turquoise wooden panels. Each fixture consists of a gilded brass band framing the upper edge, from which hang multiple tiers of clear faceted crystal prisms and swags that catch the ambient light. The construction combines cut glass crystal elements with mirrored backplates, incorporating functional brass ring top supports and internal bayonet bulb holders. Individual crystals show slight variations in alignment along their wire suspensions, pointing to age-related character within the assembled structure. Measuring 25 cm across, these decorative fixtures fit narrow wall spaces in hallways, living rooms, or bedrooms, providing functional accent lighting alongside classic period ornamentation.

Prism bag wall lights, also known as bag sconces, are decorative wall-mounted fixtures featuring semi-circular metal bands supporting tiered, cascading glass or crystal prisms that encase the bulb.

Sconces from this era were primarily constructed using cast or stamped brass frames, combined with cut lead crystal or pressed glass drops wired together with copper or brass pins.

Authentic period examples display hand-cut crystal drops with subtle size variations, cast brass frames showing natural surface oxidisation, and original wire pinning holding the glass elements in place.

Mount these fixtures against bold painted walls or textured plaster to highlight the glass refraction, using them in pairs to frame mirrors, artwork, or doorway entrances.

Dust the crystal drops regularly with a soft lint-free cloth and clean periodically using a mild solution of isopropyl alcohol and water applied via a microfibre cloth, avoiding harsh chemical sprays on the brass frame.
