Georgian caddy spoons emerged in the late 18th century as tea became a valuable commodity, requiring specialised utensils to transfer dry leaves from a caddy into a teapot.

They were crafted primarily from sterling silver, often featuring hand-engraved detailing, bright-cut engraving, and occasionally shell or ivory handles.

Authentic pieces typically bear clear hallmarks including a makers mark, standard mark, duty mark, and town mark, alongside period-specific hand-wrought characteristics.

These small items can be displayed inside a glass-fronted cabinet, mounted in a shallow frame, or styled on a tray alongside other historical metalware.

Antique silver should be cleaned sparingly using a soft microfiber cloth and a mild, non-abrasive silver polish to preserve the delicate engravings and natural patina.
