The Boston shaker emerged in the late 19th century, featuring a simple two-piece design consisting of a mixing glass and a metal tin, later evolving into two nested metal tins for professional bartending.

Traditional vintage cocktail shakers are primarily crafted from base metals such as brass or nickel silver, which are then electroplated with a layer of sterling silver.

Authentic pieces often feature makers marks, hallmarks, or stampings indicating the manufacturer and silver plating technique, alongside natural patination and minor wear consistent with age.

Displaying vintage barware on a bar cart, sideboard, or drinks tray adds a layer of historic sophistication and metallic contrast to contemporary living spaces.

Silver plated items should be hand washed gently using a mild detergent and soft cloth, avoiding abrasive cleaners, and periodically polished with a dedicated silver cream to maintain the finish.
