FAQs

A toast rack is a specialised table accessory designed to hold slices of toast upright to prevent them from becoming soggy from condensation during breakfast service.

They were typically handcrafted from sterling silver using soldered wirework, bars, and arched dividers, often supported by small feet and featuring a central loop handle.

Authentic pieces bear British hallmark stamps indicating the assay office, silver standard, and date letter corresponding to the Victorian era, alongside makers marks.

It can be utilised on a dining table as a functional serving piece or displayed on a sideboard or open shelving as a polished metal accent.

Silver items should be washed gently in warm soapy water with a soft cloth and polished occasionally with a non-abrasive silver polish to maintain their lustre without damaging the metal.
