The George III style spans the mid-to-late 18th century in Britain, characterised by refined classical proportions, superior cabinet-making techniques, and a transition from heavy mahogany to more decorative veneers like burr walnut and marquetry.

These pieces typically feature solid oak or pine secondary timbers clad in high-grade decorative veneers such as burr walnut, secured with hand-cut dovetail joints and traditional brass hardware.

Authenticity is determined by examining hand-cut dovetails on drawer construction, uniform timber shrinkage, period-appropriate brass handles and locks, and natural patination rather than modern chemical distressing.

Pairing an ornate wooden chest with clean, minimalist surroundings allows the intricate grain patterns and marquetry to stand out as a focal point without overwhelming the room.

Preserve walnut furniture by maintaining stable room humidity away from direct heat sources, applying occasional high-grade beeswax, and avoiding silicone-based polishes or damp cloths.
