Lancastrian Jewellers has dated this Antique Silver Albert Chain to the Victorian era.
This chain is hallmarked with the Lion mark on every link. The dog clips, T-bar, and chain links are all have the same maker's mark throughout the chain.
The chain was named after Prince Albert, who was said to have been fond of wearing watch chains. The Dog clip would have been used to attach a pocket watch or fob, and the T-Bar would go through the buttonhole of a waistcoat to secure it in place.
Today, these are worn as necklaces, and the clips can also be used to hang pendants or charms.
