Georgian silver encompasses items produced during the reigns of the four British King Georges (1714 to 1830), characterised by neoclassical influences, balanced proportions, and exceptional craftsmanship by master silversmiths.

These items were typically forged from sterling silver using traditional hand-hammering and shaping techniques, often finished with crisp hallmarks indicating the maker, assay office, and year of production.

Authenticity is verified through clear hallmarks, including the makers mark, standard mark, duty mark, and date letter, alongside natural surface wear and weight consistent with hand-wrought sterling silver.

Antique silver can be displayed within glass-fronted cabinets, mounted in traditional shadow boxes, or utilised thoughtfully on dining tables to introduce historical depth and metallic contrast to modern schemes.

Preservation requires minimal intervention using non-abrasive microfibre cloths and specialised silver polish only when necessary, avoiding harsh dips that can strip the prized natural patina.
