Victorian drop earrings gained popularity during the late 19th century, heavily influenced by the changing fashions in hairstyles and evening wear that exposed the neck and ears.

Jewellery from this period was typically crafted from 9ct or 15ct gold, often utilising hollow stamping, hand engraving, and articulated joins to create movement without excessive weight.

Authentic pieces often exhibit period-appropriate closures such as wire hooks or shepherds hooks, handcrafted construction marks, and natural age-related patina on the metal.

Pairing historic jewellery with minimalist modern attire creates a striking contrast, allowing the intricate craftsmanship and warm metallic tones to serve as a focal point.

Clean gently with a soft microfibre cloth, avoid harsh chemical dips or ultrasonic cleaners which can damage historical settings, and store individually in a lined jewellery box.
