Georgian silver filigree involves delicate metalwork where fine threads of silver are soldered together to form intricate openwork patterns, reaching peak popularity during the 18th and early 19th centuries.

These items were handcrafted from sterling or coin silver wire, often featuring internal silk linings and hand-crimped edges created by skilled silversmiths using specialized fine-drawing plates.

Authenticity is determined by examining handcrafted soldered joints, patina buildup in recessed areas, weight, and the presence of period hallmarks or makers marks where applicable.

Displaying the piece within a glass-topped table, a dedicated collectors cabinet, or atop a stack of vintage books allows the intricate metalwork to serve as a focal point.

Conservation requires minimal intervention, avoiding harsh abrasive dips, and using a soft brush to gently remove dust from the delicate wirework while storing it in a tarnish-resistant environment.
