Mappin & Webb is a renowned British silversmithing firm with a history dating back to 1775, holding multiple Royal Warrants and known for producing high-quality sterling silver tableware and luxury goods.

These items are typically crafted from sterling silver, utilising traditional silversmithing techniques such as piercing, saw-work, engraving, and stamping to create intricate openwork patterns.

Authentic pieces feature official British hallmarks stamped into the metal, indicating the assay office, standard of silver (such as the lion passant for sterling), date letter, and the specific makers mark for Mappin & Webb.

A polished silver dish can be displayed on a sideboard, coffee table, or mantelpiece to introduce metallic reflectivity and texture, contrasting effectively against matte surfaces or dark woods.

Antique silver should be cleaned sparingly using a non-abrasive, high-quality silver polish and a soft microfiber cloth, avoiding harsh dips that can strip away the desired patina.
