The George V period, spanning from 1910 to 1936, often incorporated traditional revival styles alongside early influences of Art Deco, characterised by clean lines and functional elegance.

These pieces typically feature a sterling silver front sheet attached to a wooden or card backing, often supported by a hinged velvet-covered strut, with structural joints reinforced by solder.

Authenticity is verified through clear British hallmarks stamped on the silver, usually indicating the assay office city, the standard mark for sterling silver, and a date letter corresponding to the year of manufacture.

They provide a reflective metallic accent when placed on mantelpieces or sideboards, contrasting effectively with minimalist modern decor or complementing traditional settings.

Use a specialized non-abrasive silver cloth to remove tarnish gently, avoiding harsh chemical dips that can damage the underlying metal or compromise the structural integrity of the frame.
