We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Georgian silver dates from the reigns of Kings George I to IV (1714 to 1830), a period marked by fine craftsmanship, neoclassical influences, and the expansion of formal dining practices.

These items were predominantly crafted from sterling silver, adhering to strict metal purity standards enforced by assay offices, and were typically hand-hammered or cast before being polished.

Authenticity is verified through clear hallmarks stamped directly onto the metal, which typically include a makers mark, a standard mark indicating silver purity, a duty mark, and a date letter.

Antique silver can be displayed in glass-fronted cabinets, used on dining tables to mix traditional textures with contemporary minimalist tableware, or showcased on sideboards.

Antique silver should be washed gently in warm water with a mild, phosphate-free soap and dried thoroughly with a soft microfibre cloth, avoiding harsh abrasive dips that can remove desirable patination.
