In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

FAQs

Novelty silver pincushions gained immense popularity during the Edwardian period, often cast in whimsical shapes such as animals, shoes, and miniature furniture to appeal to affluent collectors and sewists.

These items are typically crafted from sterling silver using processes like stamping, casting, and repousse, fitted with a plush velvet or silk cushion to hold pins and needles securely.

Authenticity is verified by examining hallmarks for the lion passant, makers marks, and date letters corresponding to the early 20th century, alongside traditional manufacturing seams and patination.

These small objects serve as sophisticated focal points when displayed on a mantelpiece, bookshelf, or within a glass cabinet alongside other curated curiosities.

Store them in low-humidity environments, avoid harsh chemical dips that can damage the textile cushion, and clean the silver gently with a specialised microfibre polishing cloth.
