We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

The George V era spans from 1910 to 1936, characterised by a blend of traditional craftsmanship influenced by late Victorian and Edwardian aesthetics, alongside the gradual emergence of early Art Deco geometric forms.

These pieces typically consist of a thin sheet of sterling silver shaped over a wooden or composition core, backed with velvet or baize, and supported by a hinged metal strut.

Authenticity is verified through clear hallmarks stamped on the silver rim, usually including a makers mark, the lion passant for sterling silver, a town mark such as the Birmingham anchor, and a date letter.

They can be placed on a mantelpiece, bookshelf, or desk to introduce metallic warmth and historic character, contrasting effectively against contemporary minimalist furniture.

Silver should be cleaned sparingly using a non-abrasive microfibre cloth and specialized silver polish, avoiding harsh scrubbing that could wear down the thin metal veneer.
