Edwardian silver objects, produced during the reign of King Edward VII between 1901 and 1910, are characterised by lighter, more refined designs often drawing inspiration from eighteenth-century classical motifs, neoclassical elegance, and novelty items.

These items were typically crafted from sterling silver, frequently accented with natural stones such as banded agate, carnelian, mother-of-pearl, or ivory, often paired with hand-engraved detailing.

Authenticity is verified through clear hallmarks stamped on the metal, which typically include the makers mark, the lion passant for sterling silver, the town assay office mark, and a date letter corresponding to the assay year.

These small collectables add a layer of historical interest and tactile texture when displayed on open shelving, within glass cabinets, or styled atop a traditional wooden desk or coffee table tray.

Silver should be cleaned periodically with a specialist silver cloth to remove tarnish, avoiding harsh chemical dips that can damage organic or mineral stone handles such as agate.
