Mourning jewellery dates back centuries, gaining immense popularity during the Georgian and Victorian eras as a tangible way to remember and honour deceased loved ones.

These pieces frequently incorporated gold, silver, seed pearls, jet, human hair, and hand-painted miniatures on ivory, porcelain, or vellum.

Authentic pieces typically feature period-appropriate metalwork, hand-carved or hand-painted details, natural seed pearls, and glass or crystal covers protecting the miniature work.

They are often displayed within shadow boxes, velvet-lined display domes, or integrated into curated gallery walls alongside historical artifacts.

Store them in acid-free environments away from direct sunlight, moisture, and extreme temperature fluctuations to protect fragile organic materials like pearls and miniatures.
