A superb silver long handled spoon by the great Georg Jensen, presented her in the original box. This fabulous example is fully cast with a gently planished bowl and terminal. The top front of the shank bears stylized fruit and bud motifs, with pierced fretwork. Probably a commission piece due to it's non mainstream pattern, this superb piece is of good gauge silver and would serve well as a preserve spoon. Georg Jensen established his silversmithy in Copenhagen in 1904, pioneering a distinct aesthetic that combined Art Nouveau organic forms with functional Modernism. The workshop became renowned worldwide for its sculptural silver hollowware and flatware.

Georg Jensen pieces are traditionally crafted from sterling silver, often featuring hand-hammered surfaces known as blossom finishes and oxidized details to accentuate sculptural depth. Master silversmiths utilise traditional casting, hammering, and soldering techniques.

Authentic pieces bear official makers marks, including variations of the Georg Jensen stamp, numerical design identifiers, and purity marks such as 925S for sterling silver. The weight, crispness of the hand-finishing, and specific typography of the hallmarks help determine the production era.

Antique silver cutlery can be displayed within glass-fronted cabinets, used as functional table service during formal dining, or arranged on decorative trays alongside other metallic accessories. Their polished surfaces reflect light, adding a refined focal point to tablescapes.

Antique silver should be cleaned periodically using a specialised non-abrasive silver polish and a soft cloth to remove tarnish without scratching the metal. Store items in tarnish-resistant cloth or acid-free boxes in a dry environment to minimise oxidation.
