FAQs

Victorian tea infusers and tea balls gained popularity in the late 19th century as loose-leaf tea became a staple of British domestic life, prompting silversmiths to craft elaborate, functional vessels for brewing.

These items were predominantly crafted from sterling silver, often featuring hallmarks stamped with the assay office, date letter, and makers mark to denote their metal purity and origin.

Authenticity is verified by checking for clear British hallmarking, traditional hinged construction, precise perforation patterns, and the natural tarnish and patina associated with antique sterling silver.

Such small collectable items can be displayed on a silver tray, styled on a bar cart, or showcased inside a glass-fronted cabinet to add historical detail to contemporary living spaces.

Antique silver should be cleaned sparingly using a specialized, non-abrasive silver cloth to remove harmful tarnish while preserving the original patina and fine details of the embossing.
