In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

FAQs

A William IV silver vinaigrette is a small, pocket-sized container produced during the reign of King William IV (18301837), featuring a pierced internal grille used to hold a sponge soaked in aromatic vinegar.

These pieces were typically handcrafted from sterling silver using techniques such as casting, engine-turning, repousse, and hand-engraving, fitted with a hinged internal gilt grille.

Authentic pieces are identified by clear hallmarks including the makers mark, standard mark, town mark, and duty mark, alongside period-appropriate engraving styles and functional internal grilles.

This small object can be displayed inside a glass-fronted cabinet, on a mantelpiece, or atop a dressing table as a focal point of historical interest.

Preservation involves storing the silver in a dry environment, avoiding harsh abrasive polishes, and gently cleaning it with a soft microfibre cloth to maintain the original patina.
