Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

Napkin rings first appeared in France around the early 19th century as a practical way to identify household linens between laundry days. By the Victorian and Edwardian eras, they became ubiquitous dining accessories, often given as christening or wedding gifts.

These items are typically crafted from sterling or plate silver, often shaped using press-rolling or forming techniques, and decorated with hand-engraving, chasing, or piercing. They are usually housed in custom-fitted cases lined with silk or velvet.

Authenticity is verified by examining hallmarks stamped on the metal, which indicate the maker, standard of silver, assay office, and date letter. Construction details, such as soldered seams and the wear pattern on the fitted case, also help confirm age.

Such pieces can be displayed within a glass-fronted cabinet, used to accent a formal dining table during special occasions, or placed on a sideboard as part of a curated display of metallic tableware.

Silver should be cleaned periodically with a specialised non-abrasive polish to remove tarnish and stored in an anti-tarnish cloth or its original lined case away from direct sunlight and humidity.
