Art Deco design, prominent during the 1920s and 1930s, is characterised by geometric precision, stylised motifs, and a luxurious combination of materials such as sterling silver, glass, and vibrantly coloured enamel.

These pieces typically combined blown or cut crystal glass bodies with sterling silver mounts, often featuring machine-turned guilloche enamel caps and metal spray mechanisms.

Authenticity is usually confirmed by examining hallmarked stamps for the makers mark, metal purity, and assay office, alongside assessing the age-appropriate wear of the enamel and mechanical components.

Such pieces serve as refined decorative accents on dressing tables, bathroom counters, or open shelving, adding a touch of period elegance and subtle colour to a modern space.

Silver components should be carefully polished with a non-abrasive cloth, avoiding contact with the enamel, while the enamel itself should only be gently wiped with a soft, damp cloth to prevent scratching.
