Description

An absolutely magnificent Art Deco burr walnut leather top partners desk. This was made in England, it dates from the 1920-30’s.

The quality is outstanding, this has an extremely impressive and interesting design and it is one of the finest examples of an Art Deco desk we have ever come across.

The top has beautifully moulded edges and and inset black leather top. It overhangs the pedestals slightly on each side and has a generous working space. The walnut grain patterns and colour tones are gorgeous throughout on every surface. There are nine drawers on the front, with beautiful sculpted handles and fine, hand cut dovetailed joints. The back side of the desk is also very nicely designed and has two locking cabinets with shelves.

We have had this stripped and re-polished to a very high standard, the condition is superb throughout. The top lifts off and this breaks down into three pieces for ease of transport.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Art Deco furniture, prominent in the 1920s and 1930s, is characterised by sleek geometric shapes, streamlined forms, and the use of luxurious materials such as burr veneers, chrome, and fine leather.

Partners desks are traditionally crafted from dense hardwoods like mahogany or walnut, frequently featuring decorative veneers such as burr walnut, dovetailed drawer construction, and inset leather writing surfaces.

Authentic pieces typically exhibit period-accurate hardware, hand-cut dovetail joints, genuine wood veneers over solid secondary timbers, and natural signs of age and wear to the timber and leather.

An Art Deco desk functions well as a focal point in a contemporary study or home office, paired with minimalist seating and metallic accents to highlight the rich grain of the wood.

Preserve antique wood and leather by keeping them away from direct sunlight and heat sources, applying periodic applications of microcrystalline wax to the timber, and using specialised leather creams to prevent drying.
