A caddy spoon is a small specialized spoon used during the 18th and 19th centuries to measure loose tea leaves from a caddy into a teapot, often featuring elaborate engraving and hallmarks.

They were typically fashioned from sterling silver using techniques such as die-stamping, hand-engraving, bright-cut engraving, and occasionally filigree work by silversmiths.

Authentic pieces usually bear clear British silver hallmarks indicating the assay office, date letter, makers mark, and the standard mark like the lion passant for sterling silver.

These small items can be displayed in shadow boxes, mounted on display stands, or arranged within antique cabinet vitrines alongside other collectable silverware.

Preserve antique silver by storing it in tarnish-resistant cloth, cleaning only when necessary with non-abrasive specialized silver polish, and avoiding harsh chemical dips that can damage engraving.
