Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

This antique Persian tribal runner rug dates from the 1900 period. The wool pile is hand-knotted onto cotton warp and cotton and wool weft foundations, displaying an earthy biscuit camel field with a dark navy blue border and central column motifs, along with pale blue, red, and brown tones. The composition includes a central pole medallion, geometric step borders, and a pair of stylised tribeswoman figures near the lower section, while the ends and sides are secured with an even pile, showing signs of recent hand washing and de-dusting. The piece measures 262 cm high by 69 cm wide and 1 cm deep. Suitable for placement in a hallway, corridor, or narrow walkway within a rustic farmhouse interior to provide underfoot warmth and traditional pattern.

FAQs

Antique Kurdish runners originate from the Northwestern region of Persia and are recognised for their thick woollen pile, sturdy construction, and bold geometric ornamentation. They frequently feature central pole medallions, abstract animal or human figures, and rich natural dye colour palettes.

Traditional Kurdish weavers utilised hand-spun local sheep wool for both the pile and the foundation warp and weft. Dyes were derived from natural organic sources, including madder root, indigo, walnut husks, and pomegranate rinds.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-knotted wool construction with slight irregularities in the weave and pattern typical of nomadic and village craft. The reverse side shows clear knot structure, and natural colour variations known as abrash are often visible throughout the field.

A narrow runner introduces texture and historic character to long corridors, entryways, or narrow spaces alongside a kitchen island. Placing an underlay beneath secures the runner on polished timber or stone flooring.

Vacuum regularly using a suction-only setting without a rotating brush bar to protect the wool fibres. Promptly blot spills with a clean, dry cloth and arrange professional rug cleaning by specialist conservators when required.
