FAQs

Hand-painted standard lamps from India often reflect regional artisan traditions, utilizing intricate miniature painting techniques traditionally applied to wood or papier-mache objects.

These lamps are typically constructed from dense hardwoods, such as mango wood, shisham, or teak, which are then hand-turned, primed, and decorated with detailed polychrome pigments.

Authenticity can be determined by examining the patina of the wood, hand-mixed natural pigments, evidence of traditional joinery, and historical wiring components that indicate age.

Such pieces serve as sculptural focal points in contemporary spaces, pairing well with neutral upholstery and simple, textured lampshades to balance the detailed patterns.

Maintenance requires dusting gently with a dry, soft cloth, avoiding chemical cleaning agents or excessive moisture, and keeping the item away from direct sunlight to protect the pigments.
